Doris Butterfield

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Hilda Butterfield who left us peacefully on July 31, 2024 at the age of 83. Born on August 18, 1940 to parents William and Catherine Butterfield in Dublin, Ireland, she immigrated to Canada with her sister, Florence, in her twenties. She lived a long and fulfilling life filled with love, humour, and happy times spent with her cherished loved ones.

Doris was predeceased by her two brothers, Eric and Cecil, her three sisters, Violet, Phylis, and Florence, as well as her parents. She is survived by her niece, Sarah Force (Brian Humphries), her sister-in-law, Ruth Butterfield, and was a beloved aunt to Geoff, Jonathan, Adele, Gary, Diane, Nicky, Jonny and Peter. 

Doris worked for many years as an accountant until she embarked on a new venture as the owner of a Molly Maid franchise. Beyond her professional commitments, she found great joy in reading and valued the time she spent with friends and family. Doris loved travelling, often exploring countries in Europe with her friends.

Doris was consistently present during our times of greatest need, generously providing support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She had a remarkable gift to infuse the dinner conversations with joy, humour, and laughter. Despite living with health challenges in her later years that affected her mobility, she persevered and continued to be strong which is one of the traits for which she will always be remembered.

A private interment will take place at Queensville Cemetery with the family and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
