Douglas Jack Parsons
March 12, 1935 - August 17, 2019
He took his last breaths surrounded by his children. He has gone to join his loving wife, Beverley, and parents Jack and Isa (Orser). Survived by his five children, Debbie Toll (Greg), Bruce, Douglas, Sharon Page (Bill Cooley) and Le-ann Patton (Glen), his brothers Wally, Ernie and Harry, and sisters, Marion, Kimberly, Kendra and Sondra. Doug was the proud grandfather to Stephanie, Tyler, Danika, Alex and Sydney and great-grandfather to Miles. Born in Belleville, he had a zest and appreciation for life and loved to travel. He had a passion for music of all types but loved live music most of all wherever he travelled. A very social man, he loved meeting and talking to everyone and anyone who would listen (and we mean everyone!) and would regale them with his stories and knowledge. An electrician for 51 years, his proudest achievement was being the President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 586 for 14 years, where, as a dedicated union activist, he focused his time and attention on the union and improving the lives of its members. An avid reader all his life, he was never without his newspaper, right up to the very end.
The family shares its deepest gratitude to the extremely kind and conscientious staff at Extendicare Starwood, who provided the most amazing care to him. They made his last years comfortable and provided incredible support to his children in the last days of his life. For those wishing to, donations can be made to the Starwood Family Support Group, 114 Starwood Road, K2G3N5
On Tuesday, August 27th, a Celebration of Life will take place at Biagio's Italian Kitchen, 1394 Richmond Road, in the downstairs private room, between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for friends and family to come together to reminisce and share stories to honour his memory.
