Edith Kolnhofer

Edith Kolnhofer, 86, of Toronto, ON. passed away at home on January 7th, 2024, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Steve, daughter Katherine, son Istvan and two grandsons whom she adored. Edith was a ballerina with the Hungarian Opera Company and courageously escaped Hungary in 1956 during the revolution.  She travelled extensively with her dance company, living in Paris for a time.  She married Steve in Canada and they opened a famous delicatessen, the Bread & Butter, which they operated for over 20 years to great success.  Edith was selflessly dedicated to her family and friends.  She was beautiful, generous, had a wonderful sense of humour and always approached life positively.  She was very well loved by all who knew her.  She is enormously missed.  A funeral mass will take place on January 26, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Anselm’s Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care.
