Edward Casey Fitzgerald (Wayne)

March 15, 1942 — June 11, 2021

Passed away Friday June11th, 2021 at Credit Valley Hospital after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and Brain Cancer

Married for the past 50 years he is survived by his wife Doreen and Step-son Daniel Betson. He will be lovingly remembered by both.

Predeceased by his Mother Penelope and Father Edward.

Ed was a Retired Canadian National Railways Conductor who was affectionately known by many friends and co-workers as “Fitz”. He began as a Brakeman and soon became a Conductor working the trains leaving Toronto Yard destined for Northern Ontario. After riding the cabooses for many years, Ed moved to the Go Trains where he enjoyed interacting with his many daily riders prior to retiring.

His main passion was Aviation and his knowledge of Aircraft was extensive. He spent many days and hours building Military aircraft models and his collection of work will be a long lasting testament to his love of this hobby.

Many thanks to Dr. Mann, Dr. Brade and all the caring Staff at Credit Valley Hospital.

At Edward’s request, there will be no formal Funeral service.

Cremation has taken place.

Arrangements made by Basic Funeral Services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation , if desired.
