Elaine Constable (nee Wickens)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Constable on April 8, 2025, in Ottawa, ON. Elaine was born in Shawville, Quebec on Sept 12, 1947 to Melvin and Judith Wickens, becoming one of 12 siblings: Dorval (Elda), Genevieve (late Clifford), Carolyn (late Bill), Harriet, Linda (Terry), Connie (Glen), Kathy (Rolly), Darwin (Holly) and Dorothy (Allan). Predeceased by brother Hawley (Jeannine) and sister Dianne (Cliff). She went on to have two children, Lesley (late Ian) and Brian (Pam), 6 grandchildren: Jayson, Corey, Kimberly, Jacob, Alexis, and Sophia, and 4 great-grandchildren. Her large family also included aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she was proud of and loved very much.

On May 21, 2016, she married Russ Constable of Clayton, Ontario in a memorable ceremony and after many years of city living returned to her country roots. Gardening and baking became her passions. She was known for her award-winning pies, and being there for her family and friends.

Always trying her luck at bingo, cards, lottery and the casino she was forever optimistic, never dwelling on the past, she moved forward, leaving negativity behind. She did love telling the story of winning a pickup truck many years ago!

She was strong, hardworking, determined and loved by all who knew her. She will be missed deeply and never forgotten. A celebration of life will be announced in the coming months.
