Elizabeth Cullen

April 5, 1967 — April 6, 2018

On the afternoon of Friday April 6, Elizabeth went quietly into that good night. But she did not give up. Born with Immunosuppression disease which attacked her kidneys, she was not expected to survive. But she did. When her kidneys finally failed at the age of 13, she got a kidney transplant in 1980. A number of times her survival was iffy. But she did.Over the the last 27 years Elizabeth fought an amazing battle with a formidable foe. During the last 6 months we were told on so many occasions that Liz would not make it through the night. They did not know Liz well. Kidney disease could not beat her. Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma could not beat her. Breast Cancer could not beat her. Colon Cancer could not beat her. Melanoma could not beat her. Brain tumours could not beat her. Elizabeth would never want anyone to feel sorry for her.
SHE fought. And SHE lived. The way SHE wanted to live. She has joined her grandparents in Heaven. Elizabeth has been survived by the love of her life, Steven Zalusky, and her mother, Freda Cullen. Her Aunts, Uncles,Cousins, and Friends will miss her spark and her fight.
A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held on Saturday, April 14, at St. John's Norway Crematorium (256 Kingston Road just west of Woodbine Avenue) at 1pm. This will be followed by a wake from 2:30-5pm at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13 (1577 Kingston Road just east of Warden) where the Family would love to meet friends and exchange their memories of Elizabeth.
