It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Elizabeth (Betty) Zuro passed away peacefully on March 3, 2021 at the Courtyards on Eagleson at the age of 93. Loving mother of Michael (Angela) of Russell, Dan (Catherine) of Stittsville and Jill (David) of Calgary. Cherished Gran of Ryan (Sherry-Lyn), Lauren, Spencer, Lisa (Dave), Scott (Kaitlin), Jeremy (Samantha) and Drew. Dear friend of Nancy Zuro. Elizabeth is survived by 8 great grandchildren. Elizabeth was briefly survived by her beloved sister and closest friend, Evelyn Richardson (late Ken) who chose to follow Elizabeth 4 days later.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Zuro (August 13, 1985) and her siblings Geraldine, Janet, Marjorie, Bill, Joan and Elsie.
Elizabeth was born in Sharbot Lake, Ontario. She grew up in Arnprior and raised her family in the Stittsville and Kanata area. Elizabeth will be fondly remembered for the love of her family and friends, her creativity, generosity, strength and determination. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed knitting, reading, puzzles, playing cards, going for walks and dancing. Over the years Elizabeth enjoyed spending afternoons by the pool where she enjoyed a glass of wine while visiting friends and neighbours.
We would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at the Courtyards on Eagleson for their kindness, care and support of Elizabeth over the last 3 years.
In this time of covid there will be no funeral service. A small celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Ottawa Mission Foundation via their website at ottawamission.com/make-donation.
A life well lived is a precious gift
of hope and strength and grace
from someone who has made our world
a brighter, better place.
It’s filled with moments sweet and sad
with smiles and sometimes tears
with friendships formed
and good times shared
and laughter throughout the years.
Let us remember the smiling, the laughing
the talking, the sharing
the caring, the loving
the good times - forever
