Born in Windish-Feistritz, Slovania, young Erica and her family migrated to Weitensfeld, Austria when she was 3 and then across the world to Calgary, Alberta at the age of 14. As a young and beautiful woman, it was no surprise her first job was as a model for Renfrew Furs as well as for the Eatons Company and with that throughout the next years Erica’s life was filled with adventures and travel, eventually settling down into adult life by quietly marrying and keeping home.
Widowhood came calling in the 90’s and that all changed in 2000 when she met the love of her life, Paul Levesque. Married in 2001, they have shared over 20 years of their lives beginning in Calgary, Alberta and moving to Long Sault, Ontario in 2007 where they became a part of the local community making great friends and enjoying the quiet & beauty that only a small town like Long Sault could provide.
She leaves behind beloved Husband, Paul Levesque, 2 Step Children, Nicole Leveque-Kreutzberg and Daniel (April) Levesque as well as 4 grandchildren, Ethan, Elliot and Austyn, Carter in addition to her beloved nieces Doris and Sylvia as well as other family members. Preceded recently by her sister Tony (2022), sister Mara (2010), Father Josef Vaupotitsch (1908-1979) & Mother Maria Lambert (1907-1992); she also mourned the loss of their much-loved Samson, the tiny Yorkie who was the light of the Levesque home.
Sadly, Sunday evening, May 29 at 9:35, Erica quietly took her last breath, surrounded by love and great energy following some unforeseen health issues.
A big thank you to the Ottawa Civic Hospital Nurses and Staff who provided care with grace and compassion during the final days.
As per Erica’s final wishes, there will be no service or funeral. You may celebrate her life by pouring a glass of wine, raising your glass and toasting her life, it’s what she would have wanted.
