It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Evelyn Rae Loucks-Richardson on March 7, 2021 at the age of 91 at the Courtyards on Eagleson Retirement Residence. Loving stepmother to Barbara Richardson (Randy Benker) and Mark Richardson (Pam). Step-Grandmother to Joshua and Kevin. Very dear friend of Nancy Zuro.
Evelyn never had children of her own but was an adoring aunt to her many nieces, nephews and their children. She leaves behind a legacy of spoiling them all as much as she could. Evelyn will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Kenneth Roland Richardson on March 4, 2010 and by her 7 siblings Geraldine, Janet, Marjorie, Bill, Joan, Elsie and Elizabeth.
Evelyn lived a wonderful life. She was born in Sharbot Lake, Ontario. She grew up in Arnprior and then moved to Ottawa. Her work with the Portland Cement Association eventually took her to Toronto where she met her husband Ken. Following retirement Evelyn returned to the Ottawa area so she could be close to her family. Evelyn will be remembered for the love she gave to family and friends, her strength, kindness and generosity. To her dying day Evelyn put the needs of everyone else ahead of her own. She waited for her final sister, Elizabeth, to pass and 4 days later decided it was her time to go.
Even following her passing Evelyn left behind these sentiments to let everyone know she was ok:
I’m writing this from Heaven, where I dwell with God above.
Where there’s no more tears or sadness, there is just eternal love.
It was my philosophy and I’d like it for you too,
That as you give unto the world so the world will give to you.
When you’re walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind,
I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when you feel the gentle breeze or the wind upon your face,
That’s me giving you a great big hug or just a soft embrace.
And when it’s time for you to go from that body to be free,
Remember you’re not going; you’re coming home to me.
And I will always love you from the land way up above.
We’ll be in touch again soon… P.S. God sends his love.
We would like to acknowledge the staff at the Courtyards on Eagleson for their kindness, care and support of Evelyn during her final few years.
A small celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank via ottawafoodbank.ca/donate.
