Fansworth 'Fonzy' Lovelace

Fansworth "Fonzy" Lovelace, a cherished member of his community, was born on June 17, 1951, and passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at St. Vincent's Hospital. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.

In his youth, he was a student at MT St George Methodist School. Fonzy was a dedicated construction worker, with hands that helped build not only structures but also relationships, fostering connections throughout his life. He took great pride in his work, understanding the importance of contributing to the growth and foundation of his community. 

Beyond his professional life, Fonzy held a deep passion for music. An enthusiastic calypsonian, he found joy and fulfillment in singing, captivating audiences with his vibrant performances and infectious spirit. His love for music was not only a personal joy but also a means of bringing people together, showcasing the rich culture and communal ties through song.

His family remains a testament to the love and care he shared during his lifetime. He is survived by his sisters, Thurma, Vier, Vernette, and Gwenderlyn, and his brothers, Branson, Gath, Alton, and Harvey. He was a proud father to his daughter, Marcia, and a loving grandfather to his granddaughter, Samantha. In addition, Fonzy treasured his relationships with his brothers-in-law, Eric and Anthony, as well as his aunt, Judith. His extended family, including nieces and nephews, such as Myrthlyn and Curtis, along with many others, continue to honor his memory.

Fonzy was also surrounded by a cadre of friends who cherished his companionship. Friends O'Reilly, Russie, and The Doran's were among those who celebrated life alongside him, sharing in his joys and supporting one another through life’s challenges.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Glenis Sterling Lovelace and Hubert Lovelace, who instilled in him the values of hard work, creativity, and compassion.

As a beloved member of the Lovelace and Sterling families, Fansworth Lovelace lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and a love for community, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate in the hearts of his family and friends for years to come. His laughter, strength, and music will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will undoubtedly live on through the memories and stories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be laid to rest at MT St George Cemetery in Tobago.
