Florence Gifford died peacefully at Southlake Villiage LTC at the age of 91.
Predeceased by her daughter Marsha, her son Patrick and her grandson Brett. Missed by her daughter Cathy (Bruce) Julie (Ed) and her granddaughter Shannon Serrano (Jorge) and great grandson Nicolas, her friend and neighbour Karen and her upstairs neighbour Jarrod who was like her adopted son.
Florence was born in Truro Nova Scotia and moved to St. Catherine’s at the age of 18 where at the age of 20, she meet my dad and had 4 children. She would much later move to Hamilton where she worked for 30 years at Glendale Textile Mill as a textile worker. She loved to garden and always had beautiful flowers in her garden. She loved wildlife and feeding the squirrels and birds were her favourite pastime. She rescued many cats in her lifetime and her last furry friend was her rescue cat Bella whom she loved dearly. She loved to bake and some of her favourite things were home made bread, muffins, cookies and her famous clam chowder.
Special thanks to Katherine from LHIN whom was amazing at securing a safe space for her to live out her final days. Without her kindness and caring, we would not have been able to care for her the way she deserved to be. A thank you to the staff at Southlake Village LTC who did their best to ensure she was safe and secure and kept us updated as to her health concerns. I would like to thank Holly from The Loft who was so kind to my mum who took her to little outings to make her day a little brighter, and also Lisa her PSW from CDI who my mum absolutely loved. Lisa helped her more than she could imagine and we are forever grateful for her kindness.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society
