Freddy and Martha Martinez

We mournfully announce the passing of our parents, Freddy Martinez and Martha Martinez Alfaro on October 8th, 2021. Freddy and Martha happily met and married in Nicaragua before making their way to Canada with their five children Gloria, Jairo, Martha, Freddy and Michael in late 1980s. Their settlement in Ottawa brought many happy memories and productive life to both, and the opening of “La Colonia” convenience store served them to connect with their loved Latin and Local community.

Freddy and Martha were survived by four of their children, Gloria (Scott), Martha (Ivan), Freddy, and Michael, as well as their five grandchildren, Alexander, Liana, Theo, Marcos, and Phoenix.

They may be gone from our sight but never gone from our heart. They will be forever loved and always remembered.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, and support during this difficult time. And thank you for making and supporting “La Colonia” all these long years. You are really appreciated.

If only we could know the reason why they went
