Ganga Prasad Banerji died peacefully on April 12 2022 at the age of 93 at his home in Toronto. He left behind his wife Prabati Banerji (Chatterjee) married for 62 years, and his three children Anand (Andy), Anna, Sunand and his grandchildren Sierra, Mikka and late Nathan.
Ganga was born in Kolkata and grew up in Barisal, East Bengal until the partition of India in 1947. He came to Canada in 1965 to work as a professional mechanical engineer and spent most of his career at Atomic Energy of Canada. He was renown for his community service. As a youth he volunteered with the Ram Krishna Mission where he distributed food to the poor and destitute. In Toronto, he was one of the founding members of the Bengali community where he was a pillar of strength to the community. He gave support to countless people in both India and Canada with this sound advice. His legacy was his strength, courage, wisdom and kindness, and the indelible impact he had on the lives of so many people. On his last day, he said that he lived a fulfilling life without regret and wanted to thank those who journeyed with him along his path.
