It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Georgia Karlos on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at North York General Hospital in her 92nd year.
Beloved wife of George for more than 54 years, devoted mother of Harry (Georgia) and Lia (Bill), and cherished Yiayia of Peter, Katie, Georgia, and George.
Georgia was born on February 18, 1930, in Anemodouri, Megalopoli, Arcadia, Greece. Georgia came to Canada in 1957 and settled in Halifax, before meeting her husband George in 1960. Georgia and George came to Canada after World War II, in search of a better life with more opportunity for themselves and their family.
Georgia and George settled in Toronto in 1963 on the Danforth and spent most of their time working tirelessly to support their two children.
Georgia was dedicated to her family and her love was devout and unconditional. Her children gifted her four beautiful grandchildren, who were raised in her home, creating many cherished memories. Georgia raised her grandchildren like they were her own – as a Yiayia she had more time to enjoy her grandchildren than she did her own kids. She would often say how grateful she was to be given the gift of time.
We all recognize the strong impact she had on all of our lives and the family values she instilled on us.
May her memory be eternal.
