Geraldine Judith (Grace) Marquardt, 1946 August 20th - 2019 June 2nd
It is with deep sadness that the children of Geraldine Judith Marquardt announce her passing. Mom left this life to join dad peacefully at the Renfrew Hospice Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 in her 73rd year surrounded by her family after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born to the late Michael and Rachael Grace of Killaloe. Mom was married to the late Edsel Marquardt for forty-five years and were lifelong residents of Golden Lake. There they raised their three children Cindy (Gaetan) Duval, Linda (Marcel) Roy and David (Derya) Marquardt. Mom is survived by 8 grandchildren Lindsay (Jeff) McLeese, Cody, Brady, Deanna, Riley, Nicole (Chris) Graham, Shelby (Scott), Justin and 7 great grandchildren Carter, Jordyn, Connor, Grace, Jack, Marcus, and Adrianna. Predeceased by brother Blain (Diane) Buder. Mom had a large, caring circle of friends and held very special relationships with Elsie, Donna, Cindy, Irene, Karen, Grace as well as many others who will miss her dearly. After Dad's early passing, mom made her bucket list and started to travel enjoying trips to Nashville, PEI, Nova Scotia, Toronto, New Orleans and Graceland. Mom was an avid volunteer throughout her life. She was an active member in the community being a life long forty-year member of the Eganville Legion Ladies Auxillary, past president of the Golden Lake Recreation Association, Golden Lake Swim Club, Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. Many people knew Mom as she was cook at Mac's Cedarest for many years and cook at both the Renfrew Victoria and Pembroke Regional Hospitals. Mom and Dad then worked together in their new venture as owners of the Crossroads Restaurant, (then chip truck) in Golden Lake and are fondly remembered for their fantastic pizzas and poutines. As per Mom's request, a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 9th, 2019 at the Eganville Legion (downstairs club) from 1-4pm. Private burial to be arranged. The family wishes to thank all of those who lovingly cared for Mom during her illness. To Dr. Bishop and the nurses and volunteers of the Renfrew Hospice - words cannot fully express our gratitude for the wonderful, detailed and loving care you provided our Mother in her last weeks. It is because of your superb care we were able to spend more time with Mom. We are so fortunate to have the Hospice within our community. Also, we would like to thank Dr. Kristian Davis and the nurses at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital who took care of Mom during her final hospital stay, and to all those who visited Mom in hospice, called, emailed - thank you. Mom was not a person to like attention drawn her way and she was overwhelmed and truly touched with the love shown to her.
Donations may be made to the Renfrew Hospice.
