Gladys Georgina (Simmers) Muir

It is with great sadness that we announce that Gladys Georgina Muir passed away peacefully on October 25th at the Trillium Health Partners Hospital in Mississauga after a brief bout of pneumonia. She was a kind-hearted, generous lady who was mother to more than just her four children. She owned and ran a daycare centre for many years and was always “Mutti” to the children and a compassionate ear to any parent that needed to talk. Her home had an open-door policy to any neighbour or family friend and her non-judgemental, positive attitude made speaking with her always a pleasure. She lived a full, rich life of 96+ years and will be sorely missed by family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Andrew, celebrating their 60th anniversary shortly before his death. A huge void is left in the hearts of her children Ian (Jo), Heather (Craig), Sandra (Robert) and Wendy (John), grandchildren Andy (Erin), David (Chelsey), Brian (Amanda), Colin (Kit), Simon, Ben (Victoria), Severn (Iris), and Diana and great grandchildren Charlotte, Liam, Sawyer, Kayla, Ben, Bella, Drew, Tavish, Deven and Ella. Also feeling an immense loss is her younger sister Margaret, nephew Derrick (Caroline, Sam, Tom), niece Debbie (David), all the many relatives in Scotland and her beloved cat Kit. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at her residence, Westminster Court, and the VON there, of whom she spoke fondly, who enabled her to have an independent and fulfilled life for the past 11 years. There will be a Celebration of Life at Westminster United Church, 4094 Tomken Road in Mississauga at 11:00am on Saturday, November 19th.  Gladys was an active member of her church so In lieu of flowers, a donation to the church would be appreciated.
