Grant Henry McClement

Grant Henry McClement, 75, of Barrie, Ontario, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023. He was born to parents Ross Henry McClement and Eleanor McClement on Saturday, November 1, 1947 in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated high school from York Memorial and then went on to study History at York University.

Grant met the love of his life, Geraldine (Gerrie) McClement, in 1964 at (of all places) Canadian Tire at the corner of Yonge & Davenport. They were married on June 21, 1969 in Toronto, Ontario. Together they raised 3 children: Greg, Chris & Andrea.

Grant is survived by his wife Gerrie, their children, Greg (Mary Catherine), Chris (Katie) and Andrea (Troy) and his grandchildren, Abby, Devin, Henry and Eleanor (Ellie). Grandpa loved his grandkids - he loved to play games with them, engage in conversations with them, and was always beaming with pride upon learning of their accomplishments.

He will be remembered for his love of golf, sailing, model trains, peacefully watching summer sunsets over Georgian Bay, and an ever-present smile paired with a glass of wine in hand while barbecuing. He was forever devoted to his family, supporting their every need and enabling their successes at all stages of life. He was an advocate of his friends, being present for others, both in moments of joy and times of need. His first priority in life was always to help others.

The family has entrusted Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices in Barrie with the arrangements. A private service and quiet reception will take place with family and close family friends later this week. The family would like to invite all of Grant’s friends to A Celebration of Grant’s Life that will be scheduled for August 2023, details will be shared shortly (date, location, timing to come).
