CLUSIEAU Guy Joseph Jude -  In his 82nd year and after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we share that Guy passed away peacefully on September 2, 2022 at the Ian Anderson House in Oakville.  Guy opted for no treatment and instead wanted to live out and enjoy his remaining days on his terms, with quality.  He is survived by his loving wife Anne, his daughters Susanne (Kevin), Michelle (Jon), grandchildren Leanne (Antonio), Alyssa, Christian (Ashley), Marc, Shelby, and his great-grandchildren Emmanuel and Sophia.  Guy will be held dear in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Guy was born on October 28,1939 in Timmins, ON to his late parents Beatrice and Emmanuel Clusieau.  He was the second youngest of seven children and the only boy.  He grew up with sisters Lucille, Jacqueline, Raymonde, Lorraine, Rochelle, and Paulette.  Beatrice, hoping for a son, prayed to Saint Jude (the Saint of Hopeless Causes) and her prayers were answered with her son being born on Saint Jude’s birth date.

Guy joined the Air Force in his late teens and served for 5 years before moving to Toronto where he met the love of his life, Anne, who had just immigrated from Scotland.  At that time, he was employed with Eaton’s where he sold shoes and occasionally provided his services as a sweater model!   Six months after meeting Anne, they were married and this coming October 31st, 2022, would have seen them celebrating their 58th Wedding Anniversary. After employment at Eaton’s, Guy worked at other companies such as Silverwood delivering milk, as well as delivering diapers.  Eventually Guy joined Continental Can and he would celebrate nearly 25 years of service before the company was sold, relocated, and at that time he decided to retire.  Upon retiring, Guy decided it was best to keep busy, so he worked for Erin Mills Toyota providing car shuttle services for their clients until Anne retired.  Together the two fell into their new retirement routine for the next 22 years.  Guy loved completing his daily crosswords and was an avid lover of baseball, hockey, and golf.  He was a major fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Red Wings.  In his younger years he enjoyed playing darts, bowling, and was an active member of the Legion.  He also enjoyed entertaining family and friends in his home with Anne.

The family would like to thank the Palliative care team which allowed Guy to live comfortably at home until he moved into the Ian Anderson House in Oakville.  A special acknowledgement is made to all members at the hospice for the support and care that Guy and his family received.  Their kindness, compassion, warmth, and comfort will always be cherished.  The family is beyond grateful that Guy was able to spend his remaining days filled with dignity and surrounded by positivity and light.

If desired, the family asks that donations be made in Guy’s memory to the Ian Anderson House or a local hospice in your community.
