Haidzine Yeretsian, 79, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on February 24th, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Haidzine was born on August 11, 1944 to Hagop and Victoria (Dargounian) Terzian in Jaffa, Israel.
As a child, she attended St. Joseph Catholic School where she completed elementary and high school. She learned and spoke six languages fluently; Armenian, French, English, Arabic, Hebrew, and Turkish. Because of her love for language, she always said she would have loved to have been a teacher if life took a different path.
In 1963, Haidzine married Hagop Yeretsian in Jaffa before moving to Toronto, Canada later that year. Haidzine and Hagop went on to have two children, Haig and Joseph Yeretsian.
During her early years in Toronto, Haidzine spent her time raising her beloved children, cooking marvelous meals, while also finding time to enjoy her hobbies such as traveling, painting porcelain, fashion, music, and spending time with her closest friends and family.
In her later years, Haidzine continued to travel, she particularly loved Europe and visiting family in Israel, Philadelphia, and Colorado. Her favourite thing to do was spending time with her best friends including the famous “musketeers”, going for coffees, lunches, dinners, casinos, beaches or simply going for a walk around the mall.
Her pride and joy in life became her six grandchildren. She loved cheering on her grandchildren’s passions, such as attending hockey and soccer games, dance recitals, and personal piano recitals, and was so proud of all of their accomplishments.
Haidzine was predeceased by her husband Hagop Yeretsian, as well as her sisters Adrine Terzian and Ankine (Nazareth) Nazarian.
She is survived by her sister Zarouhie (the late Abed) Ghandour, her brother Harout (Zabel) Terzian, her sons Haig (Patricia) and Joseph (Megan) Yeretsian, and her grandchildren Amanda (Christian) Yeretsian-Musacchia, Jessica, Steven, Tawnia, Marina, and Lukas Yeretsian.
