Hans Jaster, passed away in Palliative Care at the Ottawa General Hospital, surrounded by his wife, Danielle, daughter, Arianne and son, Justin.
Born in Germany, he immigrated to Canada (Montreal) at the age of 6, with his mother, grandmother and brother, learning English and eventually French (at his best friend's restaurant 'Le Paris'). Enjoying fine dining, this establishment is where he learnt to enjoy the finer things in life. He traveled the world throughout his career in both the airline and hospitality industry. Hans enjoyed sports, Scotch (Johnny Walker Black label), entertaining, humor, and especially politics where he always had an opinion, but most of all his family which included his beloved dog, Logan.
While living in Montreal, he met his wife, Danielle and they were married 49 years, had two children, Arianne and Justin and moved to Ottawa over 30 years ago. Hans and Danielle enjoyed traveling, and in the later years, the sun and ocean in the Dominican Republic, their favorite spot.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grand-father, as well as a fierce friend. He will truly be missed by his wife, Danielle, children Arianne and Justin, son-in-law Charles, grand-children, Blaire and Zach, his extended family and all those that were lucky enough to have crossed paths with him. His spirit and memories will remain in all our hearts.
The family would like to thank the Ottawa General Hospital, Palliative Department, Carefor and our very devoted Family Doctor for all of the support and care they provided him.
If you wish to make a donation in memory of Hans please do so to either the Canadian Cancer Society or The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
