Hal passed away on March 11 at True Davidson Acres Care Home, where he had been a resident for the past ten years. Hal was born of Scottish parents, raised and schooled in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire. He emigrated to Canada in the 1950's. After a long career in Pharmaceuticals, he co-founded McIntyre-Rowan Inc, which became a leader in executive personnel recruitment. The love of Hal's life, however, was rugby. He played rugby league in England and in Canada joined the Toronto Nomads RFC and later the Toronto Scottish RFC, as coach. Under Hal's guidance, the club won the Carling Cup and numerous League and Eastern Canada championships. Hal also coached the Provincial team and was inducted into the Ontario Rugby Hall of Fame, in its inaugural year - 1999. Hal's personality and humour were contagious. He will be greatly missed. Hal is survived by a daughter and grandchild. A celebration of Hal's life - Duke of Kent, May 28 - details will be available at torontoscottish.ca
