We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Harry Brown on June 4, 2020. Harry died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband to Suzanne. Loving and devoted father of Tim, Peter & Marni (Hossack), and Melissa Brown.
Proud grandfather of Shannon and Nathan Brown.
Loving brother of Joan (Bill, deceased) Henderson, Chris (Phil) McAdoo and the late Linda (Jim) Kemp. Brother-in-law to Shirley (Floyd) Lefebvre (deceased) and Rodney (Susanne) Bowen. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends near and far.
Harry was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, mentor and friend. Gracious and kind, he enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Long-time employee for the Scarborough Board of Education, Harry was a dedicated educator (teacher, Vice-Principal, Principal) eventually retiring in 1997 as Superintendent of Schools.
Passionate volunteer of the United Church of Canada, West Hill Community Services and most recently he served as Board President of his condo.
Harry and Suzanne were avid travellers and walkers putting many miles between their home in Toronto and around the world. Harry was also an author, loved to read and was a long-time advocate of the Reading Centre and Reading Recovery program. One of his last books to read was 900 pages and he finished it in less than two weeks.
We will miss him tremendously.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when it is appropriate to gather and toast this wonderful, generous and gentle man.
We would like to thank the extraordinary care and support given to Harry and his family from The Freeman Centre and North York General Hospital and LHIN, with special thanks to his doctors and nurses that treated him daily.
