It is with great sadness and loving memories that we announce the passing of Harry Kibsey of London, Ontario, on April 9, 2013. Harry was in his 86th year, and is survived by his loving wife Sally and their four children: Richard, Gary, Dianne Emslie, and Suzanne Brown, as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grand children.
Harry was born in Nakina, Ontario, where he grew up in a family with 12 siblings. His athleticism predominated his early years, and his passion for hockey did not escape the attention of the Boston Bruins scouting team. Harry declined the NHL offer, choosing instead a reliable career in Horn-Payne, Ontario, as an electrical line man. It was at this job, high atop a 30-foot pole, that Harry spotted his future wife, Sally, walking on the sidewalk below. Harry built their home in Capreol, Ontario, where he and Sally raised their 4 children.
Harry worked hard & conscientiously for the CNR as a Licensed Electrician, honing his skills freelancing for neighbours and friends. Thanks to his proven competency and diligent work with the railway, Harry earned the esteemed position of Safety Supervisor, as well as the Town's Title "Best Electrician".
Harry possessed the gift of hospitality, and was known for his wonderful cooking, entertaining stories, and joke telling. His home was always open and anyone looking for a hot meal was welcome. After 40 years with the railway, Harry retired in London, Ontario, and lived a healthy robust life until this past year. Harry will be missed but not forgotten.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 15th, one hour prior to service, from 10:00am.at St. Justin's Catholic Church, 855 Jalna Blvd, London. Funeral service will commence promptly at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon at the church hall.
