Harry Robert Hastilow

It is with profound sadness and enduring love that we announce the passing of Harry Robert Hastilow on July 27, 2024 at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga. Harry is survived by his wife Pat, son Jacob Blum (Joanna), sisters Sandra Custus and Merrily Scullion and sister-in-law Judith Virtue. Beloved grandfather of eight, great-grandfather of three and adoring uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was happiest being in their company and was always there to lend a hand, his ear, or sage words of advice.

For most of his life, Harry was an avid jogger and cyclist and had a successful business career in the information technology field. In recent years, he marvelled at how the youngest members of the family seemed to know more about technology than he did.

Harry had a life-long interest in higher learning, literature, world history and travel but always found time to volunteer in his community. He was a long time member of The Mississauga Library Board as well as a volunteer at the Friends of the Mississauga Library System and his condominium board.

Harry was a true gentleman, an avid reader, and most of all a devoted family man. He will be greatly missed by all his family and dear friends that rounded out his life. He departed on his wife’s birthday to make sure we would never forget the date.

Our family is grateful for all the care from his medical team in 1C at Credit Valley Hospital. A private family burial will be held and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trillium Health Partners Foundation or Parkinson’s Canada. We encourage all who knew and loved Harry to contribute online condolences, share stories and photos to the family.
