Hayik Babaoglu – April 5, 1929 – June 20, 2019.
It is with great sadness we announce the death of Hayik Babaoglu who died of heart failure at Bridgepoint Health, Toronto Ontario, Canada. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Silva Minakyan, his only daughter, Sisi, son-in-law, Peter, and 3 adult grandsons: Jacob, Joel, and James Theodorakidis. Hayik enjoyed and loved being with his family. He was a kind, honest, Christian man who had family values and believed in doing right. Born of Armenian decent, Hayik immigrated to Canada in 1968 and became a sailmaker for sailboats after meeting Hans Fogh, an Olympic sailor, who hired him on at Fogh Sails, also North Sails. Hayik, known as Mike, worked with Hans until retirement. For hobbies, he loved to draw, paint, and collect coins. He loved classic black and white movies of his generation. He loved to watch sports especially hockey games on television. We will miss him dearly but we are happy to announce, he is home with Jesus. Funeral services are held on Thursday June 27, 2019 at 10:30am viewing and 11:00am service at Holy Trinity Armenian Church, located on 920 Progress Ave, Scarborough, Ontario, M1G 3T5.
