Heather Isobel James

June 18, 1932 — December 26, 2018

James, Heather Isobel
Passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at the age of 86.
She was the loving mother of Jamie, Wally (Gillian), Denise, and John (Melody) and the proud grandmother of Andrew, Annabel, Sam, Penny and Frances.
Daughter of the late RCMP Staff Sgt. Carl Clifford Wilson and Myra Wilson and sister to the late Joe Wilson.
Heather was born and raised in Ottawa then lived for many years in Woodstock before moving to Toronto in 1972. For a number of years, she lived on Bloor St. in the heart of the Annex. Her last home was in the Dundas West and Bloor area.
Heather enjoyed living in Toronto and it was there that she was able to really express her artistic side. She was an honour graduate of the Ontario College of Arts, class of 1989.
While living in her Bloor St. apartment she loved working in her studio as well as hosting viewing parties for the Santa Claus Parade for her close friends and family.
Heather had a great love of gardening, art, music, dancing and friends. She saw joy in colour and taught us to stop and enjoy all the beautiful things that nature surrounds us with.
People gravitated towards Heather and she had an impact on everyone she met. Her friendships lasted for decades and she cherished each and every one of the very special people in her life including Deborah Sue, Ronald and Orus Dias, Joan Jeffery, Joanne Sublett, Anne Langdon, Pat Miner, Susan Rome, Colleen May, Brenda McCrank, Lorraine Munro. The list goes on and on.
Heather loved the children in her neighbourhood and they adored her. During the nice weather you could find her sitting on the front porch with the girls that lived nearby – Rhea, Zara, Zoe or Alexa. From across the street you could hear Grace and Katie calling out ‘Hedda, Hedda, Hedda’ when they saw her outside. She always had time for them and opened her home to them. They were especially fascinated by her dollhouse.
Heather truly was a remarkable woman. She will be sadly missed each and every day but will never be forgotten.
A service to celebrate Heather will be held at 10 AM on Friday January 4, 2019 at
Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church
427 Bloor St. West
Toronto, ON
The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who took such great care of Heather. As part of the Toronto Western Hospital’s Family Health Team’s home-based care program, there was a team of people caring for Heather. Dr. Ahktar and Dr. Sparrow were just two of the doctors who cared for her in the home but there were many others who were a part of her care team, such as Elizabete Spinasse, her LHIN Care Coordinator. Their combined support as well as the loving support of her family allowed Heather to remain independently at home.
Memorial Donations in Heather’s name may be made to Toronto Western Hospital’s Family Health Team.
