Ingeborg Jan Lorenz passed away peacefully just before her 82nd birthday on February 10, 2025 at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga.
She was predeceased by her father George Lorenz Sr., her mother Mary Lorenz, and her dear sister Elizabeth Henderson. She is survived by her brother George Lorenz, and sister-in-law, Cynthia Wheatley.
Inge, as she was called by her family, was born in Zemun, Yugoslavia, and moved with her family to Vienna Austria at end of World War II in 1945. The family immigrated to Canada in 1952 seeking a better life and a new beginning. They settled on a farm in Fruitland where Inge contributed to keeping the farm going as she was one of the fastest workers. Jan, as she was known to school friends and work colleagues, entered the workforce after completing her high school education at Saltfleet High School. She began working in the offices of Dofasco and then moved into the pension industry working for Prudential Insurance in Toronto and Newark, New Jersey. Jan came back to work in Toronto for Manulife, CIBC/Mellon, and Canada Trust Company as a Relationship Manager in their pension trust area where she completed her career. Jan always had a knack for arts and crafts and enjoyed doing art and taking care of the resident flowers at Sunrise Retirement Residence in Mississauga.
The family would like to thank the care workers at Sunrise for their care of Jan in her final years and the care workers at the hospital in her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Alzheimer Society of Canada: https://alzheimer.ca, or Trinity Lutheran Church in Hamilton: https://trinity-hamilton.com.
Funeral Services will take place at the Chapel in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 600 Spring Garden Road, Burlington Ontario on Friday March 7, 2025 at 11:00 am.
