István Fiser passed away peacefully on July 17, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, at the age of 90.
Beloved husband of Ilona (Kalapos), Father to Magdalena, Father-in-law to József, Grandfather to Tamás, Marianne and Romi, Great Grandfather to Desmond, Brother-in-law to Irén (Berta) Kalapos and the late †Lászlo Kalapos, Tata to István, Bernadett, Lidia, Jennifer, Ferenc and Erzsébet, Uncle and Great Uncle to Elizabeth and Erik, Taylor, Logan, Gabriella, Amber and Dylan, Robert, Etelka, and Máté.
István was born on December 10th, 1925 in Becse, Bácska, in Yugoslavia-Serbia the son of the late †Erzsébet Polyak and †Illés Fiser, Brother to his late sister †Teréz, and late brother †Sándor. He survived the second world war and work camp in Serbia. István immigrated to Canada in 1970 with his family, lived in Montreal, Quebec and then later moved to Hamilton, Ontario. He was a hard-working man, was dedicated to his family, and had a love for nature and animals. He was very creative, had a great sense of humour and always saw the bright side of any situation. He will be dearly missed.
Please join István's family at the St. Elizabeth Chapel at St. Elizabeth Villa for a mass to celebrate his life on Saturday July 23rd. Prayers for István at 10am, followed by Mass at 11am. Those who wish, may make a memorial donation to St. Stephen of Hungary Church, or St. Stephen's Hungarian Scout Association.
