Ivy Irene Gilmer nee Hancock
October 21st, 1922 – July 11th, 2018
Brampton - Ivy Irene Gilmer nee Hancock , a long-time resident of Toronto and recent resident of Brampton passed away early Wednesday morning at the Brampton Civic Hospital.
Born in 1922, Ivy was the true "Farmer's Daughter" growing up on the borders of what we now know as Brampton and Caledon. Known as "Pee-Wee" to her family and friends, this high spirited pretty girl caught the eye of dashing Georgetown resident George Gilmer in 1938 while they were in high school. 5 years later in August 1943 they were married just before George headed overseas with the RCAF. Upon his return they settled in Toronto in what would become their home until 3 years ago when they moved to Brampton.
Ivy leaves behind her loving friend and husband of 75 years George A. Gilmer, their daughter Dianne Keller, son Ken Gilmer and his wife Sandra, granddaughter Erin, grandson Chris and wife Yvonne and their children Hannah-Bella, Gwendolyn-Ivy and Victoria along with many nieces and nephews.
No service is planned - her ashes will be scattered somewhere special to her.
