Jacqueline Elizabeth Campbell (nee Crawford)
March 3, 1930 - May 25, 2015
Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of Jacqui, our lovable and awesome mom, grandma, and great grandma. Born Jacqueline Elizabeth Crawford in Calgary to Katherine Emilie Mason and John Crawford, she grew up in the Montreal area as well as Calgary and raised her family mainly in Quebec and Ontario, where she still has good friends. Predeceased by her husband Donald Reid Campbell and her daughter Cathy Walton, she will be deeply missed by her daughter Cindy (Marty), sons Ron (Karen) and Reid, (Kathy), and her grandchildren, Sita (Jonathon), Kalinda (Conor), Trevor, Drew, Sabrena, (Kevin) and Sean, and great grandchildren Toma and Parker.
Jacqui was a character in the truest sense of the word. She was a political newshound who made people laugh with her well-honed brand of irreverent humour. She avidly followed tennis and many other world class sports, and actively volunteered throughout her life, serving as competitive swim judge, synchronized swim coach, scout leader, and hospital volunteer, to name a few. Jacqui enjoyed lawn bowling, golf, synchronized swimming, gardening, watercolour and oil painting, and acting in community theatre. In the 1960s Jacqui played a major role in the realization of the beloved Lakeside Pool, which still flourishes today, in Pointe Claire, Quebec.
A small family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacqui's name may be made to the Grand River Conservation Authority Foundation (https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/7769) where Jacqui and Don often visited and cycled on the beautiful Cambridge-Paris trail.
