Jim (James) Burrell
Jim Burrell passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6 at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital at the age of 83.
Born in Belfast, Ireland on April 3, 1937. Jim is survived by his wife Margaret Edith (née McMeekin). Dear father to David and father-in-law to Katrina; grandfather to Madison and Sam. Predeceased by his parents Mary Ellen and James, his sister Jean Rose, his uncle Arthur Jones and grandmother Jenny.
Jim emigrated to Canada from Northern Ireland with his family in 1952. After meeting his loving wife Edith in 1965, they resided in Etobicoke on Taysham Cres. Before moving to Mississauga to be closer to their grandchildren. He had many great years with friends and neighbours in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). He finally made it to his dream “Blue House” on a beautiful 43 acres in Newington, in 2020.
Retired in 2002, Jim was an aviation sheet metal worker, among many things, including a prankster. He was known to play jokes with his friend Pat Ryan, husband of Margaret. Good friend to many, including Carl and Renette Lett. He loved his furry friends Maisy, Annie and his favourite, Hudson.
Jim enjoyed the simple things in life: a good cup of tea, classic cars, boating with friends and woodworking in earlier days. He will be remembered as an incredibly sweet man and missed by many.
Special thanks to Jim's friends from South Stormont, Lorna and Shawna O'Neill, and the wonderful staff at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
