Janet Evelyn Burns

It is with sadness that we write about the death of Janet on January 16th this year. Janet was the older sister of Bob (Elaine) and Ron (Donna). She dearly loved her four nieces and one nephew: Jae Tomlinson, Lee Staples, Allison and Amy Burns and Matthew Waugh. She doted on her great nieces and nephews, the grandchildren of her brother Bob: Tyler, Ramie, Mitchell, Josh and Arwyn. Jan grew up in Scarborough and received a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature. She would still make references to her favourite novels. Later in life she completed the Funeral Services program and moved to Ottawa where she worked in Retail sales. One of her passions was the Royal Family. Ask her anything and she knew it. She also had a soft spot for jewellery and cats. Over the course of her life she adopted and showered affection on four cats. When she died, she left beloved cats, Jude and Bronte who will be adopted out to new homes.
Jan wanted to be cremated and buried with her mother and father in Pine Hills Cemetery in Scarborough. She will be at rest there.
