Janet Kathryn Smith

SMITH, Janet Kathryn - passed away peacefully on October 20, 2018, at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie, with family by her side. She was a vibrant 70 years young. She was preceded in death by her Dad, Ira David Smith; her Mom, Alice Elverda Smith (nee Law); her sister, Elverda Maxine Gieb (nee Smith); her grandson, Christopher James Walton; and many other beloved family members. She is cherished and survived by her son, Darryl MacDonald; her daughter, Lynette Walton (Ed Walton); grandchildren Jessica (Adam), Nicole (Jeffrey), TJ, Dylan, and Tyler; great-grandchildren Aiden, Chase, Jaelyn, Logan, Peyton, and Taylor; nieces Monica (Bob) and Courtney, nephew Trevor (Heather), and many other dear family members. Janet was an energetic, spunky, free-spirited light who was full of love, life, and laughter. She will be sorely missed by precious family, treasured friends, and her special Waterford work friends and residents. Special thanks to Janet’s longtime friend, Shauna Cassidy, for her invaluable love and support; to the kind first responders; and to the supportive staff at RVH. Family and friends are invited to join a Celebration of Life in Janet’s honour to be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at Waterford Barrie Retirement Residence, Springwater Lounge, 132 Edgehill Drive, Barrie ON L4N 1M1. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Janet to The RVH Foundation at foundation.rvh.on.ca or to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca.
