It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janina Bidzinska (née Czyzewska) or Babcia B, who left us peacefully on November 28, surrounded by family on a beautiful sunny afternoon, at the age of 94. Born near Lwów, Poland (present-day Ukraine), Janina was the beloved daughter of Stanislaw and Helena Czyzewski and cherished sister to Michal and the late Joseph.
After the war, Janina's family relocated to Paczkow in southern Poland, where she met and married, Bronislaw Bidzinski. Together, they welcomed their son, Gregory Bidzinski. Janina dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a registered nurse and later as a midwife in Poland.
In 1970, Janina and Gregory moved to Canada, where they initially settled in the east end of Toronto with her cousins Ania and Stanislaw. Janina continued her career in healthcare, working as a nurse assistant at St. Michael's Hospital. Her hard work helped support Gregory through his education.
Janina later moved to Etobicoke to be closer to her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted grandmother known as Babcia B. She was known for her patience, calm demeanor, gardening and of course her famous pierogies. Precious memories remain of Babcia B standing in her kitchen with a hair net and a rolling pin over a large sheet of dough about to be folded into pierogies, or planting and caring for her vegetables in her garden.
Janina loved participating in the seniors' clubs and enjoyed taking trips with them to Casino Rama. She also cherished visits to the Canadian National Exhibition and Honest Ed's.
Janina leaves behind her brother Michal, her son Gregory (Diane), and her three grandchildren: Alyssa (Eric), Thomas (Karolina), Matthew and her great grandchildren, Audrey and Austin.
Babcia B’s legacy of love, care, and patience will be remembered and cherished by her family. She will be deeply missed by her family but forever in their hearts and they take solace now that her soul is in the comfort of the Lord.
