Janis Lynn King
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janis Lynn King, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario, after a brief illness. She was 75 years old.
Janis was the cherished wife of Wayne King, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories, including one of their proudest accomplishments: constructing their dream home in Westfort with their own hands.
Janis is lovingly remembered by her sons, Murray (Nicole) King and Brian (Colette) King, as well as her grandchildren Chase, Brooklyn, Elias, and Isabelle, and great-grandchildren Grayson and Caleb and sisters Carol and Barb and brother David. She was predeceased by her father, John Thompson; mother, Alice Thompson; son, Neil King; daughter-in-law, Stacey King; and granddaughter, Alexa King.
A devoted mother, Janis spent countless hours cheering on her three boys in the hockey arenas, a testament to her unwavering support and love. Her commitment to family extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she shared many precious moments.
Janis’s professional life began as a bookkeeper for various local businesses, but she found her true calling when she purchased her little store at the corner of Walsh and Waterloo. There, she delighted in interacting with customers and was particularly thrilled when selling winning lottery tickets. After selling the store, she and Wayne relocated to Barrie to be closer to family.
In keeping with Janis’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at RVH ICU for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charity of your choice in Janis’s memory.
