With family by her side, Jean Sawyer, at the age of 79, passed away peacefully due to the progression of dementia on July 29, 2021.
Jean will be dearly missed by her Aunt Elsie, her three children Wendy (Dave), David (Joanna), Janet (Igor), her eight grandchildren Michael (Lisa), Laura (Mike), Jennifer (Gary), Stephen (Stephanie), Joshua, Zachary (Amber), Natasha (Reid), and Matthew, eleven great-grandchildren Benjamin, Chloe, Rachel, Connor, Gabriel, Isla, Nathan, Talise, Rose, Daxton, and Jude and her extended family and friends.
Born in Manitoba, she moved to Ontario where she raised her family and established her career in Toronto, and retired to Ottawa. She lived an active and full life. Family was important to Jean and keeping connected with them was something she cherished. She proudly worked for Health Canada for 37 years, as she rose through the ranks to become a drug inspector. Her faith was important and she served faithfully in various capacities at Willowdale Presbyterian Church. In her spare time Jean enjoyed gardening, travel, attending Blue Jay games, providing food where needed, crafting and painting. Jean’s strong faith, love for family and others and service to her community brought joy, comfort and love to many.
Special thanks to Mary at Empress Kanata and the staff at Fairview Manor for their support and care.
