On Sunday, March 07, 2021 Jeannine Thérèse Corbeil (née Robillard) died at age 86.
She leaves behind many grieving family members and friends. It was these relationships that provided comfort in her last days.
Jeannine and her late husband Dan recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. She left us just 47 days after Dan, and we know they are now together again.
Jeannine cherished time with her family. Loved by her children Mike, Suzanne (Mike Robinson), Robert (Dee) and Sandra (Kevin Leahy) and grandchildren Brigitte (Shane Sullivan), Stephan (Mina), Robert, Lindsay, Lauren (Don Bowser), Gavin (Carla), Matthew, David, Justin (Sheena) and Adam. She was also excited to learn that she would soon count another great-grandchild in addition to Aiden, Jasper, Nathan, Fraser, Nolan, and Bowen.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dan, her brothers Fern and Frank, and by her sisters Muriel (Quinn) and Rollande (Blondin), as well as by family on her husband’s side [Stan, Louis, Marguerite (Martel), Norm, Leo, and Mona (Belecque)]. She is also predeceased by her son Mike and grandson Adam. She is survived by her brothers Bob (Jeanne) and Jim (Susan).
She lived most her life in the North Bay area. Jeannine and Dan built a home in Corbeil on lake Nosbonsing where they enjoyed many wonderful retirement years. In late 2019, she and Dan moved to Ottawa to a retirement residence.
Jeannine’s home was often a gathering spot for the Corbeil and Robillard families, who will have many memories of times spent on Lake Nosbonsing. She will be remembered as a dependable, family-focussed, authentic, honest, and generous woman who loved to craft and gift things she made. These gifts she created, whether sugar pies, baked beans, home-made bread, cretons, a martini, knitted items or other crafts, were made with love and may offer some comfort to those grieving her loss. Sometimes quiet and shy, she could also be assertive and no-nonsense at times. Her love of her family was evident to the end. She will be deeply and greatly missed.
In her final days, she was blessed to speak to and be with many of her loved ones. These final conversations were bittersweet but they all carried the same thread: she loved and was loved. She sincerely wanted us not to be sad, and offered these words of wisdom: Make the rest of your life meaningful. Despite all the changes in her life in the last few years she did make it meaningful and found happiness in simple pleasures, connections with friends and family, and with her cat Max.
To honour Jeannine’s life, make the rest of your life meaningful, enjoy each day, treasure your family and friends. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her name.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
