Jesse Bolan

It feels unreal to be writing Jesse’s obituary. I knew the day was coming but let’s be honest, I was never going to be ready. But here I am.

On Sunday March 13th, 2022 at the age of 51 (a few weeks shy of his 52nd birthday) after an unbelievable battle with cancer, my husband Jesse passed away peacefully wrapped in the arms of his boys, Jackson and Thomas, and myself (his wife of almost 13 years) at our home in Ottawa. Left to mourn are his mom Shirley, father Dave, sister Johanna (Gabe), mother-in-law Lorraine (Antoine), sister-in-law Lynn (Rob), nephews David (Krista), Steven, and Declan. And let’s not forget all the aunts, uncles, cousins and many many friends.

My husband Jesse was born and raised in Hamilton. He later moved to Ottawa to study at Ottawa University where he would eventually start his career in the public service. I would be lying if I said his passion lied with work but where he really excelled is in his ability to manage and create relationships with the people around him in both his personal and professional life.

Jesse always jumped at the chance to cook and bake for those closest to him. He hoped that one day our boys would cook, play Ultimate Frisbee, and travel across South-East Asia and around the world (just like he did).

A celebration of life will be held in July 2022 (as per his request), and “save the date” invitations will be sent out shortly. Jesse insisted we wear bright colours to celebrate. To honour Jesse’s life and memory, donations can be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa General Hospital. We love you Jess, always.
