It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Mary Prillo, née Griffin. Joan was born in Montreal and passed away after a long and fulfilling life on June 4, 2024, in her home in Ottawa, Ontario, at the age of 96.
Spouse of the late Anthony Prillo (1926-1988), Joan, or Mommy, was loved, cherished and will be missed dearly by her daughters Laura (Vince), Catherine and Gwendolyn (the late Ghyslain) and sons Christopher (Kristin) and Henry (Mary), as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan is survived by her brothers John (Ann) and Paul (Cathy) and brother-in-law Roland (the late Julie). She will be fondly remembered and missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Mommy, or Grandma, was the utmost lady, kind, gentle, well-mannered, beautifully presented, and generous with her smile and time. Family was the cornerstone of her life. The only sister of 6 brothers, and a stay-at-home mom, she was selfless in her care for others, attentive, dedicated and loving to her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. With a subtle wit and good humour, she was also proficient at crossword puzzles and knitted beautifully, although caring for her 5 children prevented her from completing some of her projects! Joan loved to have a cup of tea and chat with those who were around her.
