Johanna Maria Pitre

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Johanna Maria (Van Ingen) Pitre, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on February 6, 2021 at the age of 85 in Orleans, Ontario.

Johanna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Noel Pitre, her daughter Debbie Martin (George) of Miramichi, son Rick Pitre (Linda) of Cumberland, granddaughters Amanda Cibischino (Marcus), Chelsy Travers (Gary), and grandsons Richard Martin (Erin), Brian Martin (Emily), Mathew Martin, Chris Martin and Joey Martin, and great grandchildren Mikaela, Leo, Chloe, Carter, Connor and Patrick.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by her parents Johannes and Jacoba, brother Wilhelm, and sisters Cobie and Corrie.

Johanna (or Marian) or Oma to her grandkids married the love of her life Noel in 1957 in Amsterdam, Holland when he was serving with the Canadian Army overseas.  She immigrated to her new home country of Canada in 1958 to start a new life and family with Noel.  A proud Dutch-Canadian, she adored her kids, loved playing bingo and cards, working with flowers, and enjoying her favorite meal filet mignon when she couldn’t have salt herring.  She was truly one of a kind, full of wit, quick to engage, but always with a kind heart.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.  A celebration of Life will be held at a later date when gathering together is possible.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart Institute, or charity of your choice.
