It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Joe in his 67th year. Joe was born March 31, 1954 in Winnipeg Manitoba. He was the first and only of his siblings born in Canada.
He is survived by his brother Edward (Heather), sister Susan (George), brother Frank and sister Katie (Bruce); many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews who adored him and was known as “Uncle Joe”.
Joe attended St. Paul’s High School, in Winnipeg, where he was a member of the football team and was known as “Mean Joe Greene”. He made lifelong friends with some of his classmates in grade 9 that would last beyond high school, something that he cherished dearly. An ardent CFL fan, Joe and friends rarely missed a Grey Cup. Joe went on to study at the University of Manitoba majoring in History. Joe was known as a very well read man and is remembered for the great conversations he had on politics, history and sports! He spent several years travelling abroad throughout his life. He had cycled across many countries before settling down in Ottawa. He has lived in Vancouver and Edmonton, before making his way back to Ottawa - his home.
Due to COVID there will be a small viewing for friends and family on Monday, May 10th at 11:00am. In memory of Joe, donations would be appreciated to the Ottawa Heart Institute.
Please raise a glass and toast to Joe. “Goodnight Joe”
