JOSEPH (Joe, Oscar, Jos, Joske) LUBBERS

September 4, 1961 – June 5, 2023

Joe passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on ‘Monday’, June 5, 2023 after a courageous short battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Joe Lubbers of Ottawa, ON, formerly from Carleton Place, ON at the age of 61 years. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Anna Lubbers of Almonte, ON. Predeceased by his partner Sonya Brown (2011) and his only son Jacob (1997). Joe is survived by his siblings, Louise (Clyde), Vincent (Karen), John (Holly), Dinah (David), and Annelies (Martin). Loving uncle to Brenda (Chris), Lisa (Codey), Annelies, Charlie, Joey, Vincent, Enzo and Carlos. Great uncle to Jack and Hailey.

Joe will be remembered by his extended family here and in Holland. And his wide network of friends, especially his very good friend; Audrey Laroque.

Joe had a way with people, where he liked to make them laugh and inspire them with his extensive knowledge of the world. He could have been a Jeopardy Champ! He was a hard, dedicated worker, who enjoyed his job at Russel Metals, where his co-workers were another network of good friends. He looked forward to the weekends, but detested Mondays.

As per Joe’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private family burial will happen at a later date.

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the man who died.
Rather we should thank God that such a man lived.
