Joseph Simon Louis "Lou" MacDonald - November 4, 2014 – peacefully at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Lou MacDonald, aged 78 years, loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by second wife, Joyce MacDonald (Lane); first wife, Sheila Newman (Gushue); mother Zita MacDonald (Arsenault); father Jack MacDonald, sister Marie Kennedy and nephew Jeffrey MacDonald.
Lou will be deeply missed by daughter Linda Watts and husband John of Grimsby; son Stephen MacDonald of Toronto; grandson Stephen MacDonald Jr. of Scarborough; great-grandson Tristyn MacDonald of Scarborough; devoted companion Shirlee Nykyforchyn of Toronto; sister Phyllis Hassall of Mississauga; sister Marg Gallagher (husband Lindsay) of Charlottetown; brother Frank MacDonald (wife Betty Anne) of Charlottetown; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment for their compassion and assistance over the past few months, notably, Wendy Scott, close friends Eugene Burgie, Jimmy Gunn, Joe Wheeler, and to all of Lou's friends and co-workers at the ACC.
The family also wishes to thank the incredible medical team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre who made it their mission to provide the best compassionate care, and to ensure that Lou was able to make it to every Leafs game until his last day. Thank you all.
A celebration of Lou's life will take place on Thursday, November 27th at the Argonaut Rowing Club, The Henley Room, 1225 Lake Shore Boulevard West at 1:30 pm. http://www.argonautrowingclub.com/Content/Location.asp
