It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Filletti who peacefully left us at the age of 86 on Monday April 8, 2024 at Greenview Lodge surrounded be her two daughters Kim and Joanne and son in law John.
Joyce is survived by her daughters Joanne Filletti, and Kimberly (Filletti) Esper, son in law John Esper, grandsons Jonnie Esper(Julia) Matthew Esper (Sam), Daniel Esper ( Angelina), Peter Esper (Adrianne) as well as her great grandchildren Lucas, Evelyn, James, Nikolas, Noah, Zane and Layla.
She is also survived by her siblings Frank, May (Roger), Anne, Lillian (Ron), and Alfred (Susan) along with numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog PJ.
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband John of 59 years, as well as her brother Charlie (Rita), Bartholomew (Shirley) and in-laws Tony( Bette) and Francis, Simon (Anne) and Doris (Frank).
Joyce and beloved husband John immigrated to Canada from Malta in 1956, where they established a loving home in Scarborough on White Abbey Park, in which to raise their daughters Kim & Joanne.
They became integral members of their neighbourhood, fostering a warm community spirit where neighbours became like family, enjoying BBQ’s and watching over each others children as they played in each others yard.
Sitting at our kitchen table for long talks over many pots of tea was a common event for Joanne and Kim and all their friends.
Throughout her life Joyce was known for her warmth, wisdom and quick wit. She enjoyed taking classes in baking and sewing.
Joyce was an active member of a local badminton team, forging many enduring friendships along the way.
Her career at Hallmark introduced her to Myrna Brown, Anna Franza and Jacqueline O’Donnell, who became very dear life long friends.
Joyce was a devoted grandmother whose life was enriched by the love of her four cherished grandsons: Jonnie, Matthew, Daniel and Peter. Together they shared countless joyous moments- from sleepovers and playful trips to the park to memorable afternoons spent solving puzzles, her favourite pastime. Annual visits to Turks and Caicos became an eagerly awaited
tradition, weaving a tapestry of beloved memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those she left behind. Joyce was very proud to watch all her grandsons get married and start families of their own. Her legacy of love now extends beyond her grandsons to her great grandchildren with whom a budding relationship had begun to form further illuminating the depth of her familial bond.
Though Joyce’s presence is deeply missed her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. We will remember Joyce as a wise and funny woman with incredible insights. We take solace in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband John, and resting peacefully.
A Celebration Of Life will be held in her honour, Tuesday June 4, from 3- 7pm at Gerrard Art Space, 1475 Gerrard St. E., Toronto
