Joyce Isobel Randall LePage

May 22, 1928 — August 22, 2021

At the age of 93, Joyce Isobel Randall LePage, passed away peacefully on August 22 surrounded by love at Humber River Hospital.

Born in Toronto on May 22, 1928, Joyce was raised in the Swansea neighbourhood spending summers cottaging on Hanlan’s Point with her parents, Anna Isobel and William Thomas, and her brother Bill. A graduate of Branksome Hall, she then studied at the University of Toronto.

In 1950, Joyce married George LePage, becoming a dynamic duo who enjoyed their time as members of the Lambton Golf and Country Club, participating in curling bonspiels and travelling. Together, George and Joyce proudly raised their three boys in Etobicoke and made many memories on Lake Muskoka at their family cottage. Close to retirement, they moved to the Palace Pier, their home in which Joyce resided for the past 36 years.

Consistently the best dressed, Joyce was a true style icon and followed the latest trends. Her love of fine fashion led her to become a Stylist at The Room, and the latest edition of Vogue Magazine — up until last month — was always displayed on her coffee table.

Joyce had a passion and appreciation for the arts including live music, fine art, the opera, ballet and theatre. She could be found volunteering her time at the Gardiner Museum, and making annual trips with friends and family to the Shaw and Stratford Festivals.

A woman of tremendous strength and resilience, she was a breast cancer survivor who lived independently for the last 15 years surrounded by a close community, friends, family and a view of her beloved city. With great charm and grace she brought laughter, wit and perspective to conversations paired with a smile that could light up any room. She also shared her father’s love of dogs, and had many canine companions throughout her life.

Joyce was the proud matriarch of the LePage family, and loved gathering her family together for special occasions and holidays, including her annual birthday celebration in Muskoka. Most recently, she joined weekly family Zoom calls, ensuring four generations of LePages stayed connected throughout the pandemic.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, brother Bill, husband George, and two sons Mike and Rob. She will be fondly remembered by her youngest son Tom and daughters-in-law Chris, Jill S., Jill L. and Evelyn. Left to share her stories are her grandchildren Gord (Keegan), Linda, Jess, Will (Katie), Alex (Teneil), Leigh (Ty) and Stephen (Irene), great-grandchildren Charlie, Trevor, Kristen, Tyler, Ellis and Quinn, and extended family.

Joyce enjoyed the taste of iced-cold white wine, and her family invites you to raise a glass in her honour. Donations in her memory are welcome to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and the Humber River Hospital Foundation.
