Judy Yun-Meei Wang

May 24, 1940 — February 25, 2024

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother (Nai Nai), Judy Yun-Meei Wang at the age of 83. After a brief battle with illness, Mom passed into the loving presence of the Lord at Scarborough General Hospital, Toronto, Ontario on Sunday, February 25th, 2024.

Mom was born on May 24th, 1940 in Xiamen, China to Chien Songming and Liu Huo Ying, who immigrated from Taiwan. Mom married Tim Wang and together, they had three sons: Jason, Stephan, and Chris. The family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the spring of 1974. They began their life in Canada living in Toronto; later moving to houses in East York and Scarborough.

Mom was an extremely hard worker and was employed in a variety of jobs while attending ESL classes, including working at a coffee shop from which she would bring the boys delectable treats each night. Mom started working in the records department of Industrial Alliance. She made many lifelong friends there. Even after she retired, Mom enjoyed attending the company’s events for past and present employees.

Mom loved her Taiwanese and church communities. For several years, she taught art and Mandarin at a few Chinese schools in Scarborough. She provided private piano lessons to many students including all family members and served as choir director in her church at the Toronto Chinese Evangelical Church. Mom also led a couple of different Bible Study groups; learning in her 70s how to set up and host weekly Zoom meetings online.

Mom enjoyed listening to classical and worship music, singing, drawing, traveling, playing bridge, and spending time with her friends and family. She had a smile that would light up a room and always gave you her full attention. Mom was generous with her time and her resources. Her greatest desire was to live her life in the service of Jesus; at the end of which he would tell her “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Recently Mom was predeceased by her brother, Frank Chien. Staying behind to cherish her memory are her sons Jason (Rachel) Wang of Markham, ON, Stephan (Amanda) Wang of Scarborough, ON, Chris (Emily) Wang of Scarborough, ON; grandchildren Michael, Richard, Alex, and Wesley; brother, Harry (Evelyn) Chien of Santa Clara, California; and other nephews and nieces.

We would like to thank the countless doctors and nurses for their excellent, compassionate, and knowledgeable care of Mom throughout the years. Thank you also to the nurses, doctors, and care staff of Scarborough Grace Hospital, Scarborough General Hospital, Bayshore Health Care at Cedarbrook Lodge, and Extendicare Scarborough.
