Karen Muriel Johnston

Our beautiful Mom, Karen Johnston (nee Alyea) let her soul pass to the heavens on February 12th 2022, surrounded in the peace & love of her family.

Karen was predeceased by Baden & Greta (parents), Tanya (daughter), and Bev (sister). She leaves behind her children Shane (Denise), Sheri (Art), sister Kathy (Paul), grandsons Brandon & Jake, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Karen loved to knit, and it gave her great joy to make items for the people she held close to her heart, including chemo caps for everyone at the Oncology Cancer Centre she attended.

Our Mom was the kindest caring person always thinking and doing for others and always happy no matter what craziness was going on around her. She grew up in Prince Edward County, where her parents owned a small grocery store and did personal home deliveries. Her grandparents owned a farm & cannery where they supplied fresh fruit & vegetables to companies such as Canada Fancy, that picked up by ships right at their farm on Lake Ontario. Growing up with grass roots in the food business, Karen was a wonderful cook adding creative twists to her family's heirloom recipes.

Her love of animals also came from growing up on a farm with her favourites being horses, cats & dogs. Her Golden Retriever, Honey had a special place in her heart.
