Karl Heinz Gunter Quies

Karl Heinz Gunter Quies, 82, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2019 in Guelph, Ontario, surrounded by his family.
Karl was born in Germany on September 3, 1937, and immigrated to Canada in 1957 where he started his first trade as an electrician, and later was self-employed as an early designer of computer-based industrial control systems, a natural progression due to his keen interest and ability with very early computers, circuit board design, and programming. He was fortunate to turn his hobby into a rewarding and successful second career, and was known to spend many a long night working away at what he loved and enjoyed so much. Later he developed a love of travel and sight-seeing the world, and enjoyed his many trips abroad including Europe, Egypt, Africa and China. His knowledge and generous nature will certainly be missed by his family.
He leaves behind his wife Carol, children Blake (Brenda) and Mary (Mike), grandchildren Andrea (Brandon), Laura, Shane and Shalyn, and great-granddaughter Emily. The family has arranged a private memorial, as per Karl's wishes.
