It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine (Kathy) Barbara Reid. Kathy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy was a proud and devoted mother to Sarah Reid and Kyle Reid and a deeply loving grandmother to Owen DaSilva. They were the light of her life and the heart of her world. She was a nurturing and compassionate mother who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, always putting the needs of her children first. Her unwavering support and selflessness created a foundation of love and encouragement that will forever guide her family.
Born to William and Ellen Porter on August 3, 1953, Kathy cultivated a vibrant outlook on life and had a remarkable sense of style, always dressing for the occasion with colorful and carefully chosen outfits that reflected her unique personality.
Kathy had an innate ability to bring people together, often through her talent for planning unforgettable gatherings. Her creativity and thoughtfulness shone brightly in every event she hosted, leaving behind cherished memories for family and friends.
Kathy lived life on her own terms, embracing a good vibe and enjoying every moment to its fullest. Her independence, kindness, and authenticity were hallmarks of her character, and she inspired others to live authentically and with purpose.
She was also immensely proud of her real estate accomplishments, always striving to upgrade and improve her living spaces. Over the years, she moved from houses in Agincourt to Scarborough, then to Markham, and finally settled in her estate in Sharon, where she lived for 35 years. Later, she moved to a condo in Barrie before eventually making the transition to Picton, PEC, where she retired.
Kathy is survived by her former husband, Roger Reid; her children, Sarah Reid and Kyle Reid (Cheryl Purves); and her cherished grandson, Owen DaSilva. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, William Jr. Porter; her sisters, Virginia Degagne and Laurie Porter; her nephews, Tyson Porter-Forbes and Bryan Degagne; her great-niece, Chyanne Borja; and her many cousins.
Kathy was predeceased by her niece, Vikki Dauvin; her dear sister, Susan (Susie) Dauvin; and her loving husband, Victor (Pinky) Dauvin, with whom she is now joyfully reunited, resting together in peace.
Kathy’s compassion, vibrancy, and love for her family and friends leave a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration by all who knew her.
