Kent Suarez Escala

Kent Suarez Escala, aged 80, passed away peacefully on March 3rd 2024 at the Ottawa Heart Institute, after a battle with lung cancer and congestive heart failure.  Kent was born in Montreal, but spent most of his life in the Ottawa area.

Kent worked most of his career in the automotive industry as a sales manager and entrepreneur.  He spent his early career days working in sales for BASF, until he decided to start his own business selling paint and body shop supplies to local garages, where he made many friends along the way.

Kent was many things to many people over the course of his life - Yappy fastball catcher, incredible builder of things (decks, docks and sheds), absolute savage behind the wheel of a boat (if you were in the tube behind it), unbelievable water skier, happy go lucky mower of grass, and shameless consumer of butter and salt.  He enjoyed going on sunny vacations in the Caribbean - Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Bahamas, and especially Cuba.  Kent also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's Hockey and Ringette games.  Most of all, Kent enjoyed being at his cottage, where he would spend time boating, relaxing, but almost always, enjoying a beer with friends and family.  

Kent's family has chosen to hold a private memorial service in the spring of 2024, where Kent's ashes will be scattered in the place he loved the most.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all of the staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute for their care of Kent over the last few years, and specifically the last few weeks of his life.
